Just blabbering

Since I'm on my 2 week vacation from school, I have all the time to read my friends' blogs plus bloghop for more intresting people. Hirap pala ng ganito, you expect people to come up with a recent post so you can read something new or know what they have been up to lately. But it's wrong though, I know that I shouldn't be expecting them to have the extra time to update just because I as of the moment have the luxury of time to spare.
I know, I know. I'm basically just blabbering.

I've noticed too that one's schedule may not be the only reason why one frequently or scarcely updates they're sites. Because there were plently of times when, although I have the time to blog, I don't if I'm not in the mood. But there are times, like now, when I could go on and on. There's so much to blog about, so little time. So I've come up with a few of these funny bits from my family.

I was playing "twinkle, twinkle little star"on the piano (not like a pro ha) one note at a time so that my daughter could sing along. After the song she said: "My turn to play mom! I'll play the shake your booty song".....

aunt: Let's go to my place, we just rented a new DVD.
me: Really, what movie did you rent?
aunt: Yung "mother f*cker" ( she was dead serious, still haven't realize what she just said)

Everybody went like: ha? anong movie yun?
aunt: Yung sequel ng "Meet the Parents".

Ngekk! Meet the Fockers pala!

We went out with my husband's family one day, well of course my mother-in-law was there too. After dinner we headed to Starbucks for a cup of mocha frap for me and a machiatto for my husband. Since my mother in-law wasn't really exposed to new stuff, she wasn't aware of such heavenly coffeeshops like Starbucks, so she was somewhat surprised on how good the coffee tasted. But on the way home my husband compained on having a huge tummy ache, which he usually experiences on certain days on certain food that he eats. So it wasn't new to us that he was screaming while driving as fast as he could to reach our home to use the bathroom. My mother-in-law on the other hand didn't handle it quite well. She was so worried and was almost about to put a curse on what she thinks the source of his poor son's tummy ache. Yes, she blamed it on Starbucks.

MOM: O yan ha. Sa uulitin ingat kayo sa mga iniinom ninyo!!!
(hello? then why would it be so popular if it brought diarrhea to everybody)

:Iba yung gatas na ginagamit nila! Hindi maganda yon!
(but she admittedly liked loved it before the tummy ache incident)I distinctly remember her saying: Ang sarap nito ah!

:Wag na wag na kayong iinom ng STOCKBAR!!!

Hay, old people talga. I didn't have the energy to explain to her that some people are lactose intolerant or just have irritable bowel syndrome. And my husband happens to have one of those syndromes, it's no big deal to us, but obviously it was to her. My husband and I were laughing our tails off when we got home.

Sand and Surf

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Whenever we go to the beach we usually just play on the shore, too cold to jump in and too scared of getting engulfed by the waves. But just recently, thanks to my bro, all that has changed. We actually get to enjoy the water itself, not only the sun and the sand. He introduced us to this sport called bodyboarding. It's almost like surfing, the difference is that you lay flat on your stomach, as opposed to standing up on a surfboard. The bodyboard is half as long as the surfboard and much wider. It's somewhat the beginning lesson for surfing. So that's why these surfer dudes get so addicted to the waves. The bigger the waves, the better and the faster you go. It's like driving or riding a bike, once you learn how to balance atop the board, you can experience the thrill of riding with the waves.

There are times when I get so overwhelmed with the water. You think it's only about 3-4 feet, but when a big wave comes, it can swallow you whole. I've never felt so afraid yet so alive at the same time. The rush of adrenaline keeps pumping all throughout my body and makes me forget that I don't know how to swim so I try to stay close to somone when I'm out there. So there you go. I still have so much to tell, but basically those are the highlights. I made a collage of several beach pictures from the last two days with this amazing program but I'll be tweaking it as the days progress. Sorry guys but I made this in a rush plus I'm a photoshop newbie, I just wanted you to see what I've been up to. We're taking advantage of our vacation so we're trying to go outdoors as much as we can. This is our last hooorah for the summer. Tata for now...

Past, Present, Future

Naomi tagged me with this very interesting meme which I happily answered as soon as I read it. Although it required a lot of reminiscing, it was fun.

20 years ago:

Enjoying my baby brother who was born a year before. I could recall being scolded because I was trying to press his nose, for reasons that only a kid would know. Maybe it was some sort of a subconscious feeling of jealousy upon the arrival of a new sibling. Or maybe I just wanted to play.

15 years ago:

I was 10 years old. Had been involved in several oratorical contests in school. Played the usual games outdoors at our former house in las pinas. Church activities was also a priority.

10 years ago:

Moved to valenzuela but still occasionally visited our house in the north. Just graduated from a highschool dominated by chinese students. It was the most strict and boring school that I know. The principals were old maids...I mean literally spinster hags from hell. They didn't like students having fun, so there goes my prom. NO loud noises. NO fieldtrips. No proms. Yup it sucks. But then I guess I was forced to focus more in academics rather than extracurricular acitivities (read:parties).

5 years ago:

A fresh college graduate blessed with an opportunity to visit my relatives here in L.A. The first time I ever travelled alone in an airplane, to a foreign country. It was a blast. I met my future husband, who was already being prepared to meet me as well. We were already being matched as a couple because both our families know each other very well. We instantly hit it off.

3 years ago:

I migrated in the U.S., got married, conceived and gave birth to a beautiful child.

Last year:

I was able to be away for such a long time from my parents, who were then waiting for their petition in the Philippines. It made me stronger, responsible and tougher as a woman and as a mother.

This year:

Challenges of being a wife, parent and student makes it all the more exciting. With the help of course of my loving husband who has given me so much love and support.

Yesterday:

I was studying for an upcoming final exam in Political Science.

Last Night:

I was muching on Doritos and sipping raspberry iced tea while watching Late Night with Conan O' Brien. I was still up by 3am. I guess its the caffeine.

Today:

Finished the last and final exam from Dr. Theile's class. The exam was an exhausting 100 item test about the U.S. government which gave me a huge headache.

Tomorrow:

Summer session's over and looking forward to a 2 week vacation from school. I am in dire need of some serious shopping. I always reward myself after long hours of studying...hehe it keeps me going.

Next year:

Hoping to be in my chosen major and future career. I'm guessing that I'd be all over my books, memorizing medical terms.

5-10 years:

Hoping to be a full-fledged nurse practitioner and would have bought our very own house. We're planning to expand our family, hopefully have a baby boy, that's if I get over the trauma of childbirth. We'll see. Yet I'm very content with my duaghter.

Danielle: "Mom! my friend has a new baby brother! Can you buy me a baby sister too, puhlease..."

little Black Book

"Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me."

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It's 12 midnight and I just finished watching little black book. I finally spied it on sale this afternoon while grocery shopping. Eight bucks is the lowest price, it couldn't go cheaper than that.

When I expect less from a movie, I always end up liking it so much more. Quoting directly from the dvd cover, this movie is wickedly funny. I liked it because of its hardcore depiction of reality. It revealed one of the main hindrances in a relationship. One example is lying. Intentionally changing or altering facts is lying. But omission of the facts could also be lying. Scapegoaters love this excuse. They say what one doesn't know, doesn't hurt her/him. Or that they weren't lying, they just withheld the truth. So basically, the story revovles around this.

The reason why I could relate to this movie is because there are a few people I know who are in serious relationships but are blinded by the truth. The naked, painful truth about their bfs. The signs are right up on their noses and yet they refuse to stare at it in the eye. They probably think that they could change their ways but the odds are low especially when he cheats on you the second time around. I believe that they are blinded by the pseudo perfect relationship they are having afraid to realize that mr. right ain't the right guy after all. Unfortunately, some women love their man so much to the point of sacrificing their own self-esteem. Little did they know, they deserve so much better than those lying scumbags. I don't want to give out the details of the story because it would be such a spoil to those who have not seen it yet. I highly, highly recommend this especially to those who are currently looking out for mr. right, or may think she is with mr. right. It's a very good eye opener because the movie didn't sugar coat the reality of relationships with men, their nature and the things women put through with them.

Then, after seeing the movie...consider yourself warned.

Here fishy, fishy

As a young girl I was taught the basic chores by my mom. I wasn't very fond of it, but who was anyway, but as a mother I realized that my mom was and is always right. The things she was trying to teach us will greatly be used when starting your own family. I vividly recall when she tried to teach my how to clean a fish, which I detested, not only because it was way too hard or should I say challenging (palusot pa), but it stinks. Before getting into the insides of the fish, a certain cut must be applied/performed to get the gut out. I would get little stabs on my fingers because of all the bones, fins and all the sharp parts there is on my way. But that was nothing compared to the fishy smell that would linger for quite awhile on your hands. And so I stubbornly rejected this particular chore and told myself I would never be caught cleaning a fish.

You see, mother may not always be right, you know. Markets here in the U.S. conveniently does all the work for ya! All you have to do is say the magic word....Clean and cut please! And voila! Ready to cook and serve as you please. No more smelly hands and gut infested trash which by the way is a stink bomb.

How in the world did I come up with this post? I was craving for Miso dish. I don't know if you're familiar with it coz I wasn't too until I tasted it in my aunt's resto here in U.S. Yup, I got to taste it here, not in the Philippines(wonder why? I guess my mom doesn't cook that much either..hehe it runs in the family). It's almost like sinigang but with fish(bangus/milkfish) instead. They have the instant Knorr mix, so basically all I have to do is boil water. So there you go, I gave out another personal thing about myself, too lazy to cook.

sunset

sunset
sta. monica beach

One of the things I love the most is the beach, most especially the sight of the sunset. I just realized that I still do not have a decent shot of one of the most beautiful scenes God has given us. And so this afternoon, around 5pm we leisurely walked down Sta. Monica beach to bury our feet midst the sand and for once hope to take a good aim at the sunset. Our timing couldn't be better. We witnessed the orange rays of the sun casting down on us as it gently and slowly set among the clouds. What a wonderful and serene sight indeed.

One Year Ago Today...

I entered the blogging world exactly one year ago. Found out about it from a friend, got curious and tried it out myself. At that point in time I desperately needed an outlet to pour my emotions in to. I still remember how I nervously typed on the keyboard, my heart pounding so hard, as I emptied my heart and soul. I made it look so dramatic though, truth is I was having my customary that-time-of-the-month fit. After that, it felt so darn good. I know it's cliche, but I really felt the weight off my shoulder that I let out a pure, deep sigh.

Although it was easy to write the first time, I had second thoughts on my next post. Anxiousness came over me as thoughts of all the possible ways I could get into trouble if I don't watch what I type haunted my head. The old guarded self came upon me, as it was always there from the very start so I hesitated to make my blog public. The strangers lurking on my blog was the least of my worries, I don't know them, therefore my secrets/thoughts/feelings are safe. Its the people that I know and come in contact with in daily life gave me second thoughts. I knew in my heart that it would someday bite me in the ass. I just know it. There are a few things I am certain about in this world, this is one of them. So I started filtering whatever it is I wanted to write. All the personal details remain bottled up somewhere. But there were times where I badly needed to blog about certain things so I somehow camouflaged it, avoiding details and making it as vague as possible. And it worked! That's why I think, I am still here today blogging myself away.

Here's to a year more of blogging. May yours be as cathartic as mine.Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Unwind

Days quickly turn into weeks
Weeks into months
Months into years
Can't stop the hands of time
Everything's a blur
Gotta relax and unwind.

It's one of those once-in-a-blue moon night out without cute little daughter constantly keeping us on our toes. It's kinda weird though, whenever we go out with her it's always a battle; but during times of temporary separation, I can't wait to go home and hug her to bits. Maybe the temp separationg is what we all need. A breathing space as a reminder of how much you truly miss someone.

xoxo
I happen to look up and see the date, it's the first day of the month! No wonder I'm getting sentimental...not PMS! Just realizing how time flies...the ber months are coming. Gosh 4 months til christmas! Yay!

As you can see I'm holding my oh-so favorite drink. Guess I had a little too much...I'm in serious sugar rush!

Hey I noticed a sudden increase of bloghoppers in my site(i know it's not a lot compared to others, but it is for me). I like it! Kinda curious, though, they came almost on the same time. Cool! The more the merrier.
