Go Mr. Mom!!!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I just heard over the news about a miracle baby from Ontario, Canada who has survived from developing outside the mother's uterus. The mother was already complaining of pains but not until the doctors found out about this unusual and rare occurrence(as in one in 10 million) had they responded with a casesarean operation on her 33rd week of pregnancy. The baby was reportedly squished in between the mother's liver and abdomen. Aside from dislocated hips and clubfeet which would surely heal over time, she's alive, healthy and normal.

This raises a lot of questions on how the placenta could possibly grow outside the uterus. Meaning, the possibility of MEN having babies! I was screaming my lungs out relaying the message to my husband who, upon hearing the news went white on his face, speechless...I guess with fear...hehe the poor thing.

Me: This is the perfect way to show me you really love me.....*wink*

Husband: I don't think it's going to work...it's unnatural...*face still pale*

Unnatural ka dyan...you're just scared!!! He couldn't even answer with a straight face when I ask him if he'd do it if it were tried and tested. If this would be made possible, God knows how much happier it'd be to have a big family, why not si hubby naman magbubuntis eh!hehe...but for now I'm contented with one.*wishful thinking*

Help

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This is the guy responsible for my recent headache causing me minor physical setbacks. It is truly a pain in the neck to try to comprehend what he is trying to say. Thanks to certain books which translates it in layman's terms, I somehow get the picture. The first time I read Shakespeare, I literally went like what the....? It's just exhausting to look up word after word in the dictionary or google in over the net. Good thing I have my trusty modern English Shakespeare to keep me company over numerous spacing out episodes. It is challenging but I obviously underestimated it's capacity to cause stress.

What I miss most

What I miss most about the Philippines, in no particular order:

1. big, green & sour mangoes

Which goes perfectly well with bagoong. Mangoes here, both ripe and unripe SUCKS big time. Not even a hint of sourness. I've searched almost all asian groceries but have found none.

2. tropical weather

It hardly rains here, i don't even remember the last time it rained. Some parts of U.S. has an abundance in rainfall but here in Los Angeles...hardly. Whenever it drizzles, expect the news to be all over it. I miss the gust of wind whenever a storm is brewing, the tip-tap of raindrops on the neighbor's roof, the kids playing outside in the rain.

3. friends

I miss having old acquaintances bumping into you in the mall or somewhere unexpected; the surprise and shock when you find a dear old friend; bestfriends just a phonecall away.

4. familiar places

The nostalgic feeling whenever you pass by a school or building or any kind of establishment wherein good and happy memories all come back. You can say..."hey i've been here before" or "this is where we use to do this or that".

5. the sound of children playing in the streets

6. food sold in moveable carts like fishballs...*drooling*

Jolie vs Aniston

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

These t-shirts, from what I see and hear are selling like pancakes. Though I can't deny it being amusing and brilliant. Imagine a regular brandless cotton shirt would normally cost 5 bucks or even less but when imprinted with something like Jolie vs Aniston they sell for 30 smackaroos. As usual all the ditsy hollywood wannabees grab one as soon as someone famous wears it...so gullible! Coz I rarely pay for the retail price, such a rip off. Although brand names are cool, I go for the look, quality , style and price regardless of the name whether someone/something famous or not is imprinted at the back.

For the sake of fun, whose side are you in?
Me...Go Aniston!
Have fun this weekend you guys...Be wise shoppers!

Welcome to L.A.

The Dream Center is now the new home of 300 New Orleans evacuees to start a brand new life and rebuild. This is a picture from our fastly growing church at the heart of downtown Los Angeles. It has been around for more than 10 years spreading the gospel and helping those in need. And the time of need surely came as the victims of hurricane Katrina rocked the nation. Our church is housing hundreds of people until they get back to their feet; offering shelter, food, clothes and more importantly, jobs. Since the media found out about what this non-profit organization has been doing, celebrities like Magic Johnson have offered their promises of support as well. I am so proud to be a part of such an incredible mission to save lives.

You be the judge

How would you react if I'd post a picture like this and say "Our maids bidding me farewell. Aren't they so cute?" That was the caption underneath the picture. You can enlarge it if you want. Hindi ko po maids yan. And if ever, I wouldn't treat them as a possession to brag about.

I came across this site. Although I initially hesitated to post it, I could no longer keep it to myself. I don't know what to make out of it, just in total disbelief and annoyance. You be the judge.

Wanna see her site click here. Don't comment ha, if you do don't mention my name!

Back to School

Image hosted by Photobucket.comHo-hum...it's back to school. Two weeks of vacation was way too much for me that I actually get to miss the hustle and bustle of schoolwork. As usual the student-filled halls were the evident signs of a fresh new semester. Students from all size, shape and race roam the hallway. Some figuring out where they're supposed to be, some obviously just trying to pass time.

My schedule starts with a computer class at 9-11 every mondays and wednesdays. It has broken my record of the most boring class mainly because the instructor is an elderly man. He must be at least 70! I feel so sorry for him though, he seems so sweet but someone has to tell him to retire. Man! it takes forever to get to the actual lesson. If it wasn't a requirement to get into California State Univ, I would have bolted out the door in a second.

An early Anthropology class starts off my Tuesdays and Thursdays. Now, this class is so interesting. Scanning the list of reading assignments from the syllabus, makes me want to explore more about the origins of mankind. We don't have to believe in the theory of evolution but since the course revolves mainly around it, we have to know a great deal about this controversial topic.

After the Anthro class is Critical Thinking. I really do not know what to expect out of this course but a lot of reading. Maybe short stories and the likes from famous writers. The instructor is not too bad.

An hour before lunch, I sit everyday in Intermediate Algebra. I have been waiting for this instructor since last year because only he could make math bearable. I could not believe that I not only got an A in his class but I knew what I was doing.

For now I don't have much shoolwork to do. But I can feel it brewing. Like the calmness before the storm. In a few weeks time, I'd be back to burning the midnight oil.

I'm sharing a positive thought that made my day today.

When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened gift...Thrown away...Life is not a race. Take it slower. Hear the music before the song is over.

Life may not be the party we hoped for... but while we are here we might as well dance!"
