4th of July weekend

I have decided to make the rest of my days, fearless. Often times I forget to live my life to the fullest. Living it without hesitations, limitations, boundaries, fear and doubt. I have read from a blog...."what would I do if I weren't afraid?" That really made me thinking. If we all just live our lives like there's no tomorrow, we, I could have made something more out of my life. I could have conquered all of my fears, faced all uncertainties and ultimately know my life's purpose. That would have been the most ideal way to live. To know what and why you're here for.

On a lighter note..it's 4th of July weekend. Last year we went to my cousins' house to watch some fireworks, which was great. This year we might go to Universal Studios with my family and cousins again. It would be fun if the park could throw in some fireworks display too, to make it more memorable. I've always wanted to spend a holiday, any kind of holiday, preferrably New Year's or Christmas on a theme park. Since tomorrow is a holiday and since we've got annual passes to the closest park from our home, I hope it'll be a good one for us without breaking the bank.

There's sunshine after the rain

(The more we get together....part 2. Trust me, there'll be a lot more sequels to this post. This is actually long overdue, so bare with me.)

I believe that each of us has a cross or burden to carry. Each has their own set of problems to tackle and endure. When I hear personal stories from friends, relatives etc. , they always have something, something that makes their life like the rest of us, IMPERFECT. As the saying goes, "you can't get everything" and "no one and no life is perfect". Some have problems with their spouses, some with their kids, and some with their extended family.

I am just like everyone else. I too have realized that my cross is here, upon me, staring at me in the face, mocking me, testing me, waiting for me to do something. I have known that it was my cross to carry since the time I said I DO. This post is considered an extension from the post I made a few days back, so yes, I'm still talking about the same person/s.

Sigh...It's tough living like this. No amount of money is worth living a stressful life. Now I know why people living in high stress environment get their bodies worn out faster and are at high risk of getting sick compared to those living a simple yet peaceful life. Just this week I've already had two terrible headaches which I try not to relieve by medication. This is unusual for me because I rarely have these kinds of stuff, heck I'm too young to be experiencing these kinds of stuff. But I guess I still have to deal with it at some point in my life so I might as well buckle up, or rather put on my shield and armor and suck it up.

I don't think I can wait for that time when we could buy our own house. I'm currently looking for an apartment because I just know that I have to do something now before it's too late.

But as the saying also goes there's sunshine after the rain. This has actually been our motto even before we got married. My husband has it on his former cellphone as a reminder of the hardships we had to go through. And now that problem was resolved, another one is inching its way up. I try to just look at it as something that will make me stronger and tougher as a mother, wife and as a human being.

Happy Father's Day

He didn't teach me how to live life.
He lived, and let me watch him do it..
This is so true with my dad. He is the quiet type but his silence speaks more loudly than what words can express. He is OC- obsessive compulsive, but not the neurotic and anal type though. He likes everything organized, scheduled, planned and in order. The house is most of the time if not always, spotless. He not only does the manly jobs around the house, but the womanly duties as well, like cooking and cleaning. My mom doesn't sit and orders him around, they do it equally without pinpointing that this chore is for girls or this is a man's job. They're totally the perfect example of equality between genders. And I thank my dad above all because he is what Father's Day is all about.

I heard my daughter sing this song one day and I was again happy to hear her learn another song from school. It was cute, coming from a 4 year old, so I began singing along because it sure cheered me up. But then upon the second round of singing and at the same time pondering upon the meaning of the song, I said, "Nope, not necessarily true".

I'm not talking about my own family. My husband and daughter is all I have in this world. I'm talking about being too much together with certain people withinin our family meddling with our lives (hint: it's not my parents). Being together, as in from sunrise til sunset they are there questioning you, criticizing, scrutinizing every single aspect of your life. It ain't a pretty picture. I once heard, A happy wife is a happy life. Guess what kind of wife I am right now.

My only glimmer of light is the thought that someday we'll be buying a house far, far, far, far, far, far away from here. By then I'll be the happiest and content wife in the whole world.

On Rumors, Penguins and a Geisha

Unfortunately I do not own any of these dvds as of yet. We chose to rent because it sucks to wait for it to be on sale if you already know it is worth watching plus intriguing. With Jennifer Aniston's movie, I stumbled upon it by chance when the video guy saved it for me so sure that I would like it. Well, he knows what women wants, in movies that is.

March of the Penguins
Gosh, I don't know how to express my utter amazement and awe on these seemingly odd creatures. Coz as we all know, animals, don't really have a very hard time reproducing. They find a random mate then after several months an offspring is created. It's not very complicated, it's strictly business to these guys, you can't blame them, it's instincts. Penguins as I have just learned, go through so much hardships and trials all for the sake of reproduction. It's intriguing because during that one year process of finding a mate, reproducing, and caring for their young, they resemble us human beings in the most astonishing way. You really have to see the movie to believe it. I never knew anything like that existed until this. It's just amazing.

Memoirs of a Geisha
I didn't get the chance to read the book but I hope I get to do it someday. Wow! I'm so glad I wasn't born in Japan during those times. It sucks to be a GEISHA! It sucks not to have a choice to run your OWN life. It sucks to be under the control and mercy of MEN! It sucks to be treated like a possession and seen only as an entertainer or an artist so as to earn a MAN's affection or approval. Geez...talk about gender discrimination. But one thing that didn't suck, is this movie. After 2 hours or so of heart-wrenching depiction of what women went through during this time period and may be even today is sensational.

Rumor Has It
I never really thought much about this movie since it didn't create buzz on its opening day inspite of the big stars. Once again, the unexpected delight and amusement out of a movie that you didn't think would make an impact was nice. Although I didn't seem to see any chemistry between Aniston and Ruffalo, I don't know may be it was meant to be that way since she was supposedly having cold feet on their engagement. There was also too many reference about Pasadena, Sarah, Jennifer Aniston's character's hometown. The shots were very familiar to me. It is not very far from where I'm at, in fact, it's one of the places we see frequently and go to. One thing though, I wish I had a grandma like Shirley Mclaine's character. She's cool, free-spirited, crazy and gorgeous. Yup, she still has it.

Ok. make it a point to watch these or at least the first two because it's well worth it. Have a great weekend!

mornings at IKEA

For almost three consecutive mornings my husband and I have been eating breakfast at IKEA. It's a Swedish furniture store where you can buy all things for the home at a very affordable price. The catch is though, you gotta install it yourself. Yup, that's the catch. But you really wouldn't mind doing it as soon as you see the prices and compare it with others. Quality wise, uhmmm not really good either. Let's just say it's good for apartment owners because it's affordable and replaceable. Then as you move in to your dream house, splurge on the really good stuff, in terms of quality. But I must say their designs are nice, modern, practical, space savers and convenient.

They also sell swedish food like cookies, meatballs, jellies etc. etc.


Ok, we weren't there for furniture but for food. My mom told me they sell 99-cent breakfasts and the rest of the menu aren't bad either. We checked it out and for sure we weren't disappointed. We usually eat their fat-free yogurts, hotdogs, y'know..snacks but haven't really tried lunch menus.

Their breakfast had eggs, bacon, and a side of potatoes, not bad for 99 cents right? My husband had the same thing and added an egg burrito. Then I also tried the pancakes. All in all including coffee(which was refillable) and juice(also refillable) it was about 5 bucks...not bad at all. My husband was like.."this is the cheapest breakfast we have ever had".

Needless to say, we were stuffed. I couldn't even finish mine so we had it to-go.
It was a pleasant way to spend mornings with your significant other, relaxing, talking and getting stress-filled days out of your system.
