Starstruck

Eversince I became a mom I was introduced to a whole new set of people/characters which we now consider our celebrities. Together with my daughter, we've become avid and die hard fanatics of almost all disney characters, most especially the disney princesses. As soon as we set foot on disney grounds we start hunting for huge mascots roaming around the theme park for an autograph and souvenir pictures. Here's a fresh new batch of our so-called celebrities.

Randomness

I have been neglecting house chores for quite awhile now. I find it so hard to clean when I'm not up to it, but who does, anyway? But as a mom, it isn't a choice, it's a responsibility. Not that my place is filthy, it doesn't come to that point yet, and I won't make it happen. It's just the clutter of things around, piles of little toys and useless things on the counter that seems to grow as soon as you begin ignoring it. I just had to quit fooling around the computer and force myself to scrub the kitchen floor and put things where it should be. The first few minutes was a drag but I finally got into the mood, I just kept reminding myself of the good feeling I get after. And so now my closets organized once again, not sure how long it'll last. Toys have been put away but not for long.

Had this chocolate craving these past few days. Not sure if it's part of PMS but hershey's chocolate kisses have been really hard to resist. I am munching on a chocolate cake and a cup of milk while typing this post.

My friend Dred and I have this common thing about this particular reality show called America's Next Top Model. According to her, Season 3 is currently airing in the Phils. I discovered the show on its second season and have been watching it ever since. I especially like how Ms. Tyra Banks(and her staff) conducts, directs and films the show as a whole. I usually get all sick and tired if a reality show is pushed too far or if it's just plain dumb. This on the other hand, for me is a show worth watching. As its name implies, several wanna-be supermodels are faced with different themed challenges and are judged according to the best photograph they could produce week after week. The weakest is eliminated after each photo shoot until only one is left to be crowned as ANTM. We are now currently in the fourth season, I'm rooting for this Asian-looking chic which, if sources are true, has a black-mexican-indian father and black-irish mother. Phew...no wonder she looks gorgeous! Check out Naima.

What is up with the world today? Not only today but ever since Britney Spears married and is now pregnant with her first child, the world seems to revolve around her. But hey, she and hubby Mr. Federline found a way to cash in with all the attention. Their soon airing their own reality show which is reportedly worth 2 million dollars. Hmm...wonder how long or short this celeb couple will stay together?

One Gloomy Day

Had a morning stroll at Sta. Monica beach today with my family and parents, though the weather was unexpectedly gloomy and chilly. Since we're in a roll, we planned to go to Disneyland again tomorrow if and when the weather would cooperate. My parents just realized that since they have gotten here, they haven't seen most of Los Angeles' attraction spots. Perhaps they thought that they were too old for it, or just plain too tired to go. Glad they changed their minds. So I'm taking advantage of it, my daughter and I. Spending quality time with them is awesome, I enjoyed every ounce of it.

Goodbye, Farewell

So long, farewell to you my friends...
Goodbye for now until we meet again...

Sad to say that my Australian relatives have reached their month long stay here in the US. If I may say, it was definitely time very well spent. One of my craziest, impulsive, fun, and happiest month ever. In a matter of weeks, we've managed to bring them to Disneyland and California Adventure to Las Vegas; hopped to three different beaches; strolled, combed and shopped the outskirts of Los Angeles just to find the best deals in clothes, most especially bags; hung around the mall on weekends until it closes; and most of all, have known them a little better and made us a little more closer.

And so as we all went to take them to the airport, we cried our hearts out realizing that all of this is coming to an end. We said our goodbyes and farewells, our kisses and hugs, promises of soon coming back, and then it was time to leave.

Instead of being so sad and mournful about the whole thing, I wanted to end this with a somewhat happy note. I then remembered some words/phrases my relatives from Australia used instead of the usual words/phrases we're accustomed to. It's very different but it makes me remember them without shedding a tear. Of course, there's so much more terms and phrases but this were the only ones that meant something and sparked a cheerful memory.

Vegas update

Back from yet another long, tiring but fun weekend. Any acitivity involving out of town or even out of state trips is fine with me. You can never beat the whole experience of getting to see other places. If I only could do it for a living, I'd beg to have that job. Nevertheless, I can't compain with all the blessings.

Anyway, Las Vegas is still Sin City. As usual naked girls everywhere by nightfall. I meant half-naked girls on leaflets and some billboards. I guess it's just living up to its name. But for me it's a city of amazing display of lights, luxurious hotels and skyrise buildings. Truly an astounding place regardless of the saddening and sickening fact that women are merely regarded as a piece of meat. My grandmother on the way to Vegas jokingly said as we were inching along the busy highway, "Pati sa pagpunta sa impyerno ma-traffic!".(Even the way going to hell is congested!)

Anyhow, I tried my best to get as much good snapshots as I can. I finally witnessed the splendor of the Eiffel Tower. It's as close as I can get to France. I initially planned to somehow get in and ride a few floors up to see the view of from up there, but apparently a restaurant reservation is required. Some other time perhaps.

Welcome Back

At approximately 10pm tomorrow, my parents will be coming back from a month long vacation in the Philippines. Miss them so dearly and am looking forward to spend more quality time. With everything going on, like family and school, I seem to be seeing them only during the weekends. Since I enrolled in a 7am class, it became impossible to visit on our usual Wednesday nights, since my daughter had to be in bed early, like 6 in the afternoon. Yup, that early. I pitty her when she looses three to four hours of sleep because of my ealry class and I know for a fact that sleep is a must especially for kids. So hopefully we could work something out on their return because I long for them to bond with my daughter as much as they can.

And of course, can't wait to see all the pasalubongs! My mom always brings a lot of stuff from Philippines, mostly clothes and accessories. I specifically asked her to buy me a set of pearl jewerlies, the one from greenhills. I love those, no matter how cheap or expensive they are. They're a classic. I said that's the only thing I wanted as a pasalubong. Just the thought of shopping for myself makes me all giddy. It sends shivers through my spine...I could not even imagine how much pocket money I have to save up when I think about the good and cheap stuff back home. Oh well, in a few more years, I hope.

For now, I am counting the hours. 11 more hours to go...

Beach Bum

So refreshing to get out of the daily routine and bask under the sun. Yesterday I had the chance to do so. Beach hopped at Newport, Balboa and Laguna Beach. The mixture of sun and breeze is the perfect combination for a sun kissed tan (not that I needed it). Totally enjoyed the view, the people, the stores. May be the mere fact of just getting away from what you're used to was a much needed breather.

Face Analyzer

Just for fun.

I find this site, which I stumbled upon Hanagirl's lovely blog, very interesting and amusing. As the name implies, it literally analyzes the features of your face and promptly comes up with a profile. Quite fascinating. Try Face Analyzer and find out who your celebrity match is.

Personality Profile:

You particularly enjoy the traditional way of life. Having drinks with your friends, attending parties and relaxing while watching TV are some of the simple pleasures you indulge in. You may also enjoy physical exercise. Your driving force is to retire as early as possible, so that you can do the things you enjoy more often. Your main source of ambition comes from this desire.

You dont particularly like your job but you do it without complaining. You realize that the income that it provides is essential to your lifestyle. You are friendly yet competitive with your co-workers. This competitiveness may lead you to squander your earnings to match other peoples' possessions.

You operate most effectively when there is a set power structure, and the lines of authority are clear. You know your place in the ranks, you play by the rules, and will deliver what is expected of you. You do not care for responsibility; you would rather be care free.

Reality Check

Whew...I've been wanting to post since yesterday but apparently blogger has been experiencing technical difficulties. Or has it been my internet service provider(ISP)? I'm not sure, because whenever the weather's windy, our cable keeps losing its signal. Oh well, at least its up and running again.

Ok. On with my topic.

Since reality shows have been brought up, what is your favorite reality shows, if any? What makes it so enjoyable to watch from your point of view?

Mine is...

America's Next Top Model - main reason is what else...fashion! I love the make-up, costumes and photographs.

Newlyweds Nick & Jessica - so sad that they had to go.

The Ashlee Simpson Show - same reason, her unique sense of fashion.

Punk'd - fun to wath how celebrities react to given situations and catch them off guard.

The Apprentice - used to be one of my top faves but I felt that compared to the previous batch specifically the first one, current players are not as strong, tough, and appealing. No "IT" factor for me. But I still tend to watch a bit. There's a lot to learn, business wise; very interesting.

So long Nick & Jess

"Is this chicken or is this fish? I know its tuna.
But it says chicken by the sea."

-Jessica Simpson

As I was doing my daily rounds of blog hopping and reading, I saw Ms. Kai's recent entry about the finale of MTV's reality show, Newlyweds, starring Nick Lachey & Jessica Simpson. There's something about these two that makes you glued on the TV. and keeps you wanting for more. I don’t know, but for me it would be Jessica's cute and glamorous everyday get-up, Nick's patience and their amazing chemistry on screen.

I remember this one episode about their trip to Louis Vuitton to get a bag for their little dog, Daisy. Nick nonchalantly commented on how ironic it is that the bag was more expensive than the actual dog. Something like that, or so from what I remembered. With everything they have going, I find them more sensible and practical (especially Nick) than any other celebrity (not that I know all the others). They seem to portray an ordinary, all-American couple, with a lot of money of course but still somehow manage to keep it real.

I don't regularly watch it on a Wednesday but I make it a point to catch the reruns. Aww...I will surely miss these cute, quirky, down to earth, romantic pair. Hope this wouldn't be the end of them.

Puma Girl

Not too long ago I bought something that made me a tad happier than usual. For awhile now, I have been loyal to one sporty brand, PUMA. I usually go for anything from Nike to addidas, as long as it's on sale that is. But I realized that sometimes I'd be wearing an addidas cap and shirt, and then puma shoes. I felt mix-matched. I'm not stuck up or anything though. Kinda shallow of me I know, but hey I'm just a regular girl who loves fashion.

Okay. I then started my collection of anything puma and have been wanting to add a ball cap/hat to the set. Of course, as we all know, the retail price isn't so cute. I refuse to give in for 28 bucks worth of a simple cap/ball cap. And so last Sunday I was in total shock and awe to find it for 13 bucks only. I got this cute little pcp cap in navy blue and a tank top.

I love good bargains.

Monday Blues

Yesterday's time change was a bit tiring and kind of stressful. A day before Daylight Saving Time (DST), I had it in my mind to turn back the clock even before the the actual transition to avoid having to loose one hour of sleep.

Sunday came and all seemed quite well. Wasn't late for church, and was well prepared for the day. After church though was an unexpected offer to go to camarillo outlet stores. Being a true blue shopaholic, I could not resist the offer and excitedly hunted for good bargains. I however did not realize how late it has been getting. 6pm seemed like early afternoon. As the stores slowly started closing one by one, I realized that the weekend was soon ending. Have to once again face the dreadful Monday blues.

As I came home, I could not wipe this grin on my face. This grin which only shows up on very special occasions, specifically when I have purchased something I've been eyeing. And it was also on sale...

Though I felt ready to call it a day, I still had the strength to drop by my in-laws to greet some expected visitors. It went surprisingly well. Still watching the time, as the minutes inched away. My goal is somehow be in bed before 9pm to make up for the lost hour.

We said our goodbyes and excused myself for an early, early class. As my daughter and I lay between the covers, I looked at the time.....it was 11pm. So much for beating DST.

I woke up this morning with a severe case of grogginess. I didn't like it. I felt robbed. But I still have my grin. So tired, yet so happy.

Lighten up will ya!

Zipadeedodah

Zipadeedoda Zipadeedae my oh my what a wonderful day
plenty of sunshine coming my way!

Pardon me. I'm still in the Disneyland mode. The reason is, in a few days or so we'll be coming back for another round, now at California Adventure. They have this Two-fer promo for California residents, which gives us a chance to go in Disneyland and come back within 30 days for another park. I personally haven't been in the new park, so it's a first for me.

Anyway I'd just like to share this. Small world is a little boat ride wherein a wide variety of dolls dressed in different costumes representing countries all over the world can be seen, hence "It's a small world after all"... I instinctively waited for the Philippine doll to show up. Although all the others had an elaborate display of costumes, songs and dances, I'm still happy to see one little Philippine doll on the corner, looking very much like Imelda Marcos. At least we were represented...huh!
